Following a party, Mac (Damaine Radcliff) and Skinny Carter (De'Shawn Washington), and their friend Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum), break into the Maryland School of Arts and damage many of the props in the school's theatre. When a security guard appears, Tyler helps the other two escape and accepts the blame. He is sentenced to 200 hours of community service, which he has to serve at the school. While working, he watches a dance class and meets Nora Clark (Jenna Dewan), a student preparing for her "senior showcase." The performance could determine if she gets a job with a dance company.

The film is set in Baltimore, Maryland. It follows Andie West (Briana Evigan) as she pursues her big dream of becoming a street dancer. Her mother died of cancer when Andie was 16; she now lives with her mother's best friend, Sarah (her guardian), but in reality, Andie feels like she does not belong anywhere. Although she is doing badly at school, it is her dream for dancing that brings something special into her life. She trains with her dance crew, the "410" (pronounced four-one-oh, as in the area code for Baltimore), to keep the title of the illegal competition, 'The Streets.' Sarah is aware of the crime and harassment by the 410 and threatens to send Andie to live with her aunt in Texas if she doesn't change.

The story begins in traditional video style, as several of the film's characters are recorded and asked a series of questions about why they dance. The film then cuts to Moose (Adam Sevani) and Camille (Alyson Stoner) attend New York University. Moose is majoring in electrical engineering after promising his father that he would not dance anymore. While touring the campus, he sees a pair of Limited Edition Gun Metal Nike Dunks worn by Luke Katcher (Rick Malambri).

On May 13, 2000, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) boards Volée Airlines Flight 180 with his fellow classsmates and teachers for their senior trip to Paris. Before the plane leaves the gate at JFK Airport, Alex has a premonition that the flight will explode on take off, killing everyone on board. When events from his vision begin to express themselves in reality, he panics and attempts to stop the flight before its departure. The resulting commotion leads to a handful of passengers being left behind at the airport gate, including Alex, orphan Clear Rivers (Ali Larter), Alex's best friend Tod Waggner (Chad Donella), teacher Valerie Lewton (Kristen Cloke), Alex's rival Carter Horton (Kerr Smith), Carter's girlfriend Terry Chaney (Amanda Detmer) and student Billy Hitchcock (Seann William Scott). After they are all forced off the plane, none of the passengers believe what Alex says until the airliner takes off and explodes in mid-air, killing everyone left on it. The survivors are devastated, and two FBI agents (Daniel Roebuck and Roger Guenveur Smith) interview the people who were removed from the plane, and are particularly interested with Alex's vision.

In 2005, six years after the explosion of Flight 180, the bridge collapse and five years after thepile-up on Route 23, Wendy Christensen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), the school photographer at McKinley High School, visits an amusement park with her boyfriend, Jason Wise (Jesse Moss), best friend Carrie Dreyer (Gina Holden) and her friend Kevin Fischer (Ryan Merriman). As they board the Devil's Flight roller coaster, Wendy has a premonition that it will crash, killing everybody on board. When events from her vision begin to repeat themselves in reality, she panics and attempts to stop the roller coaster and Wendy along with Kevin, popular girlsAshley Freund (Chelan Simmons) and Ashlyn Halperin (Crystal Lowe), athlete Lewis Romero(Texas Battle), goths Ian McKinley (Kris Lemche) and Erin Ulmer (Alexz Johnson) and alumnusFrankie Cheeks (Sam Easton) are forced off the roller coaster. Moments later, the roller coaster crashes, killing the remaining people, including Carrie and Jason.

A group of co-workers are gathering for a company retreat. The group includes Sam Lawton(Nicholas D'Agosto), who desires to have an apprenticeship in Paris; his best friend Peter Freidkin (Miles Fisher); Peter's girlfriend Candice Hooper (Ellen Wroe); and office assistantOlivia Castle (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). Along for the trip are Molly Harper (Emma Bell), Sam's girlfriend, Peter's co-workers Isaac Palmer (P.J. Byrne) and Nathan Sears (Arlen Escarpeta), and their boss Dennis Lapman (David Koechner). While they cross the North Bay Bridge, Sam receives a premonition that it will collapse when their bus is still on it, killing everyone except Molly. In panic, he grabs Molly and gets off the bus. Peter, Candice, Olivia, Nathan, Isaac, and Dennis follow. The bridge collapses as Sam foresaw, but this time they have been spared. Following the memorial service, local coroner William Bludworth (Tony Todd) mysteriously warns the survivors that they cheated Death. They ignore his warnings and move on with their lives.
